Instructions on how to refill your personal care and cleaning products

Bring Your Own Container:

• Bring your own jar or container or purchase one at our refill station. Ensure your containers are empty, clean, and dry before refilling. View container prep tips below

Weigh Your Container:

• Refills are sold by the ounce. We weigh your empty container (tare) prior to filling.

Fill and Weigh Again:

• Fill up your container with your desired product and then weigh it again. This way you’ll only be charged for the product itself and not the packaging.

How To Wash Glass and Plastic Containers

1. Empty container and remove any residue.
2. Remove any labels.
3. Use a brush to scrub the container in hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly in clean, hot water or run through a dishwasher load.
4. Air dry on a clean surface.
5. Store in a clean and dry place until ready to refill.
   

How To Remove Stubborn Labels (Although we don’t care if the labels are left on.)

1. If after cleaning there is still sticky residue left on the jar or container, rub a mixture of baking soda and cooking oil over the remaining glue.
2. If oily jars aren’t your thing, you can also try anything with a high percentage of alcohol – like isopropanol.
3. Make sure you rinse after cleaning and allow to try before refilling.
   
   

How To Sterilize Glass and Metal Containers and Lids

1. Place your jars, containers and lids into a pot with water. Bring to a boil.
2. Boil for 10 minutes.
3. Remove carefully from water.
4. Air dry completely before use.
   

How To Sterilize Plastic Containers and Lids

1. Soak in hydrogen peroxide (3%) for about 10-15 minutes.
2. Rinse.
3. Let dry completely.
4. Or spray with isopropyl alcohol (70%) and leave to air dry.

Q: Do I have to refill (pump) the products myself? 

A: You can refill your own bottles or we can do it for you. You can even drop off your

containers for refilling and come back at a more convenient time for you.

Q: What happens if I make a mess? 

A: Don’t worry about it. We do it too! Luckily we have clean towels and rags on hand to help you clean up.

Q: How do I refill without spilling? 

A: The best practice that we’ve found is to place the pump just inside your container and

tilt your container about 30 degrees so that the product has the space to fill the

container properly. Also, it’s important to remember to leave enough space at the top of our container for your pump (if your container has one). We also have funnels available should you need one.  

Q: Does it cost more to refill than buying traditional products?

The cost of refilling varies depending on the product and its volume. 

Refilling your containers with our high-quality, eco-friendly products is not only environmentally conscious but can also be cost-effective, saving you significant amounts over time.

For example, our liquid and powder laundry detergent options cost anywhere from .40 to .50 cents an ounce. And depending on which detergent you choose, that’s anywhere from .12 cents to .20 cents a load—less than traditional options like Tide (.22 cents a load) and safer for you and the environment. (No, cancer-causing 1,4 dioxane here.)

Q: What if I just want to try a product, do I have to fill up the whole container?

A: That’s what’s so awesome about refilling your products, you can buy as much or as

little as you like. 

Q: Can I return a refillable product if it turns out I don’t like it?

A: Unfortunately, we do not accept returns for refillable products. We encourage customers to purchase a small amount of product to try before buying a large quantity, this way they can ensure that the product meets their needs and preferences.
